Murder accused ‘went back to pub’ Crime and Court News

A MAN accused of the stabbing murder of his stepbrother reportedly went to a pub to cancel his 21st birthday party while people tried to save the 38 year old victim.

Jason Lahrs, 38, died in the ambulance on the way to a Brisbane hospital on Thursday night.

Brendon Lahrs was charged with one count of murder and faced the Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody to reappear on February 25.

Neighbours described Jason Lahrs as a hardworking father who would often leave home before 5am for his concreting job to support his five children, aged from two to 14.

They said his stepbrother was a regular visitor to Jacobs Well and the pair seemed close, Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Stores working together and going on regular fishing trips.

Yesterday morning the cuffed stepbrother was walked through the property while wearing a Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Stores forensic suit.

The incident rocked the quiet rural beachside suburb. Ron Mansell, who lives across the road, said he saw the victim children weeping together on a veranda after the stabbing.
